Name: Big Rev
Plant Species: Dianella revoluta
General Description:
- Big Rev puts on a show with an abundance of beautiful blue flowers from mid spring through to early summer. This is followed by purple edible berries.
- Big Rev will spread slightly over time, however for this reason, it is good for situations that need erosion control
- Its large rhyzomes stabilise the soil
- It also belongs to the No Irrigation Gardening Range, which means that once established, it can survive on natural rainfall in many areas
- In very extreme droughts, occasional watering may be required
Position:
- Big Rev grows well in full sun and moderately shaded positions
- It tolerates windy and salt laden windy positions and is very drought tolerant
- It lives on natural rainfall except for desert inland type areas where occasional watering may be required to keep it looking its best, but not to keep it alive
- Big Rev does well in both raised and depressed areas, in both clay and sandy soils and it can tolerate wet feet better than other Dianella revolutas
- It can handle wet feet for periods, but it should not be planted in permanent wet areas
Uses:
- Ideal for specimen planting or mass planting in gardens, roadsides, golf courses, factories, offices, and most types of residential and commercial planting
- Good understory plant in sparse tree plantings
- Good companion plant with Cassa Blue, Little Rev, Little Jess, and Breeze
- Excellent erosion control plant
- Good for raised areas or depressed areas
- Excellent for along paths and roads, as the plant will spread slowly to the edge of the planting area.
